Rwanda is commonly known as the land of hills, covered in small but very many hills that bring out the beauty and the specialty in a small place. It prides its self in the Gorillas that a few hours’ drive away from the Kigali city.

Gorilla trekking is the main draw card of a Rwandan safari. After arriving at the capital city of Kigali, you are only a few hours’ drive away from the legendary Volcanoes National Park and its habituated but still wild gorilla families.

The Gorillas of Rwanda are in the Virunga Volcanoes; too much effort has been put in conserving. This all started by the late Dian Fossy who started the Gorillas for about 19+ years. Gorillas in the Mist movie was also filmed as a way of conserving the gorillas in Virungas rain forest.

Due to the covid 19 pandemic the Rwanda gorilla safari were put on hold for some months to protect them from the deadly disease. We share the same DNA to up to 98% meaning all the diseases that get a human being can easily get you.

Uganda still locked down and not even a single glimpses of the gorillas even if they open because of our strict conservation laws. For a swift safari a combination of other East African destinations in Uganda, Kenya or Tanzania would be perfect like the Uganda Rwanda Gorilla safari.

Top places to visit in Rwanda:

Volcanoes National Park — With a lot of bamboo trees and thick vegetation around it, the volcanoes hubours a lot of gorilla treks & bird watching. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is the best experience you can have. Spending more and more time so that you get the real feeling of staying with man’s closest relatives with about 98% DNA.

Kigali — Kigali is a city that has had more to come back from than practically any other on the continent, After the genocide the people of Kigali and their president kagame have come together as one thing working together.

The city has grown so big and transformed into the city of peace and amazement. The land of hills has more culture to see and enjoy food, people clubs, craft shops as well as the memorial sites.

Lake Kivu — Africa’s series of Great Lakes and offers an idyllic shore side interlude — before or after gorilla trekking — in the quaint town of Gisenyi. Spend your days boating, kayaking and unwinding as you soak up the sun.
