How coronavirus has changed Ramadan for Muslims this year 2020
At the end of 2019 in china they announced a rare disease that had them fixed. These were yet to be discovered in the group of the coronavirus and were named the novel covid-19. The WHO earlier this year announced the coronavirus as a pandemic to the whole world. Precautions have been put in place to conquer this deadly disease that has no cure yet other than preventive measures.
As we all know that our brothers and sisters the Muslim usually have their Ramadan one in a year and this has come in the time of corona. Moslems gather every single day around the world for prayers. Ramadan however is the best time where they get together more and more to give, rekindle their faith, love and visit as much as possible.
Will this be possible? No I guess.
Basically we need to know what is corona virus and what is Ramadan and how will this affect their daily life as Muslims.
What is Ramadan?
This if fasting done by only Muslims for 30days +ve or – one day depending on the moon appearance. This holly act for a month is known as Ramadan.
Friday marks the start of the holy month of Ramadan for many Muslims. Yes to day in Uganda all the Muslims and the others around the world have started their holy month.
But with so many places of worship closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the holiday will not be little bit different but completely different this year 2020.
What is Ramadan and how it's normally celebrated
Muslims believe that the holy book was revealed to the prophet Mohammad in the month of Ramadan. This is where the fasting or holy Ramadan comes in they abstain from all kinds of food, drinks and sex during day time. Yes married couples do have sex bit after breaking their fast in the evening.Over the 30-day period, Muslims fast during the daylight hours, a practice that is seen as one of the five pillars of Islam. They can eat before sunrise, and break their fast after dusk each day.
During the month, Muslims also try to practice "zakat," this is basically tith. Do charity, another one of the five pillars of Islam. Here they gather around mosques to share the meals and also pay the zakat.
Basically this fasting is termed as the way to seek guidance and ask for a gods Marcy for all the sins they have done.
During Ramadan, only two main meals are served "Dhaaku" is served and eaten before dawn, and "iftar," is served and eaten after sunset. Typically, these meals are enjoyed in group gatherings among family and friends.
How is Ramadan in the error of coronavirus
Covid-19 has come in the main world cerebration's like the Easter cerebration, Olympics and many more including the Holy Month of Ramadan for Muslims across the globe.Islamic holy big sites, including Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia and Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and our holy mosques here in Uganda will be empty during Ramadan. After authorities advised worshipers to pray at home and the president of Uganda locking down all the places that gather many people mosques not for gone.
Most travellers used to go to countries like Uganda for a self drive safari as a way of celebrating their eid or a way of coming together for a Uganda a family safari.
For Muslims, a big part of the holy month consists of special night prayers called "taraweeh," which are held daily at the mosque will be held at home by family members as usual. The payers however can be done at home there's no difference in the validity between the two.
The Muslim head of state in Uganda advised that this will be for the own benefit. Meaning these prayer sand gatherings will be no more.
From in time memorial people folk places of warship in this month of Ramadan for different needs some gives and others taking. During this time here the leaders are encouraging Muslims to stay home and focus on asking for Allah’s intervention.
How will the eid cerebrations be foe muslims during the covid-19 lockdown
Eid al-Fitr, marks the end of Ramadan, is considered one of the most important days for Muslims. The holiday is known as the "festival of breaking the fast."On this day Muslims gather outside the mosques because they have a belief that they will be many in numbers for prayers and after go home foe a feast,
Allot of animal slaughter is done and meat is distributed among themselves as a sign of peace and sharing as one. Not only beef but gifts as well as going over some families for lunch treats.
Food is an important part of Eid al-Fitr, as feasting takes the place of fasting with community members, family and friends.
All this said the holy month of Ramadan may be the first in centuries to be cerebrated indoors and most especially the last day cerebrations of Eid al Fitr. Amidst the pandemic that is sweeping over man king the moslems will have to bare and go with the world health organization’s guidelines of staying at home and keeping social distance in order to flatten the curve the coiv-19.
