Self drive Uganda safari is an incredibly exciting means to explore the beautiful lands of the Pearl of Africa. Travelers hire a 4x4 car of their choice and cruise around the tough terrains to discover the beauty within the parks and wild for example the gentle primates in the Bwindi impenetrable forest and the vast range of unique bird species evenly scattered in the various destinations.
Defensive driving is not an out of this world trait that needs heaven sent tricks to be used on the road but rather simple things that can be put into practice and you drive safely on the road to all your desired destinations and keep not only your life safe but also your fellow road users’ lives.

Stay away from distractions.

Make it a point to follow the guidelines on the road like the right speed, driving on a one way, keeping in the right lane, follow traffic lights and road signs to avoid accidents. These are very important since they regulate the driver and direct all road users to keep the road orderly and in harmony.

Keep a distance from other vehicles.
Defensive drivers ought to keep in mind that driving at a very close range with fellow road users could turn out rather ugly in case the cars in front accidentally or  unexpectedly reverse. It is therefore advisable to keep at least 5 metres away from other vehicles hence creating enough space to avoid collision that would harm people’s lives and spoil the cars as well.

Be familiar with all weather conditions.
Driving in an unfamiliar place would require you to be ready for weather changes for example most of the national parks of Uganda have Murram roads that become very slippery when it has rained and if you are not familiar with driving on such roads you would rather wait or make use of a hired insightful driver guide that knows these roads well enough and can drive through them with ease.

Have enough rest.
It is always important to have enough rest and allow your body to relax enough before you embark on a long distance drive. This will save you from trouble of fatigue and car sickness that may not allow you drive safely since you could sleep off on the smooth roads and cause an accident.
